We spent last night up at our friend Elisabeth’s house up in Westchester finally using our POOL!! Believe or not, it was warmer in there than it was outside.

And that’s a wrap on shooting this music video! Looking forward to putting out the finished product sooner than you know!

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to our call for pools last week. We are happy to announce that we found a beautiful 9ft deep, heated, outdoor pool in Westchester.

Thank you so much to Elisabeth for contacting us and welcoming us to her home! We visited her house last night to take some measurements and set up a potential night shoot in a couple weeks. It’s beautiful, dark, and perfect for the shots we need.

We also brought her some Charlene Kaye t-shirts, cds, and a signed tote bag with a lovely drawing Char did of a pool on it. I think it’s hilarious. We’ll be seeing her backstage soon too!

In the age of the Internet, it’s so nice to be able to reach out to a community of fans and friends for help when we need it. Thanks for such a warm response. We can’t wait to do our first underwater shoot, and finish up this video!!!

Hello everyone!

How are you guys? I hope you’re enjoying these April storms. Summer is so so so so close!

I’m taking a little break from touring at the moment to stay in town and write for a new record, but while I’m at it I’ll be taking on some new guitar/songwriting students in the New York area. If you are non-New York based, we can do lessons via Skype. If you’d like to learn guitar or songwriting, quote Lil Wayne or chat about how sick the modulation in the bridge of this song is at 3:22, please email charlenekayemusic (at) gmail (dot) com with your name, age, location, and a little bit about yourself and your goals concerning that particular instrument/skill. NY lessons will take place at my rehearsal studio in Manhattan. I try to make lessons fun, engaging and challenging!

What I teach:

-Guitar: country, blues, folk finger-style, rock, pop, theory, singing and playing at the same time (beginner and intermediate)

-Piano: sight reading, theory, ear training, singing and playing at the same time (beginner and intermediate) (NY only - piano is a bit challenging to do via Skype!)

-Songwriting: lyrics, structure, melody, harmony, arranging, performing (specializing in pop music)

Side note: I would prefer students who are wiling to study with me regularly (weekly is ideal), rather than one-off lessons. During the week (M-F) is preferred but we can work it out!

Email me if you guys have any questions or want more details. Hopefully we’ll have a better time than Grumpy Cat did the last time he tried to enjoy himself.

Hey guys. I’ve been tweeting and facebooking pretty incessantly about this one obstacle in my life a lot lately. Living in NYC is the best. THE BEST! And generally, making music videos all by ourselves has definitely been challenging but fun…except when you write tricky concepts and then have to figure out how to execute them on a pauper’s budget.

So here’s the deal:

We’re in the middle of shooting Charlene Kaye’s “Animal Love II” music video and we’ve come a long way, and I’ve been asking for a lot of difficult stuff lately so I’m very proud of them. But the last thing we need to shoot is this underwater water scene. It’s super important for me to have, and I think it’s going to really seal the deal emotionally.

I’ve emailed most of the people I know who know people in New Jersey, New York City, Brooklyn, Long Island, Staten Island looking for friends or fans who have pools.

Granted, our timing wasn’t the best, as we were shooting the rest of our video in the middle of winter…indoor pools at fancy NYC hotels were pretty out of our budget. But now that it’s approaching summer…fans? friends? family? Does anyone know someone who has a pool? Anyone live in an apartment complex with an indoor pool who would want to work with us? Anyone have a heated outdoor pool? Anyone have a regular outdoor pool? And when do people on the east coast start filling up their regular outdoor pools? Can we work with you?

We’d still like to rent it from you (we do have a budget). We have inland marine insurance, and general liability insurance. And I’ll get you anything else you want!

Anyway, any help you can throw in the way of independent artists is always much appreciated. This video is going to be really special and I’m excited to finish it. If you can help, email me directly (email is on my website) or email animallovetwo@gmail.com
